About Himalaya Calling

The Himalayan region is facing unprecedented challenges arising from climate change, environmental degradation, natural disasters, water scarcity, declining agricultural productivity, biodiversity loss, energy poverty, and limited access to healthcare and digital services. These challenges not only threaten fragile mountain ecosystems but also affect the livelihoods and well-being of millions of people living in the region. While the challenges are significant, they also present opportunities for innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology-driven solutions. The Himalayas require a new generation of innovators, startups, researchers, social enterprises, NGOs, and policymakers who can transform local problems into scalable and sustainable solutions.

Recognizing this need, the Himalayan Institute for Learning and Leadership (HILL), UPES is organizing Himalaya Calling 2026, a conference-cum-innovation platform that will bring together experts, entrepreneurs, startups, investors, researchers, government agencies, NGOs, and young innovators to identify critical Himalayan challenges and develop solution-oriented pathways for sustainable development.
