Himalaya Calling 2024

About 'HIMALAYA CALLING'

In the year 2024, as the global community confronts the escalating challenges posed by climate change, geopolitical tensions, and socio-economic disparities, there arises an urgent need for a concerted effort to address one of the world's most vital yet vulnerable ecosystems: the Himalayas. A global summit focusing exclusively on the Himalayan region is imperative to facilitate interdisciplinary dialogue, foster international cooperation, and develop holistic strategies to safeguard this ecologically sensitive and culturally significant area. With its glaciers rapidly retreating, biodiversity under threat, and millions of livelihoods at stake, the Himalayas stand at a critical juncture, necessitating proactive measures and collaborative actions on a global scale. Such a summit would serve as a pivotal platform for policymakers, scientists, indigenous communities, and other stakeholders to forge consensus, exchange knowledge, and chart a sustainable path forward for the Himalayan region and the planet as a whole.

WHO CAN JOIN

Policymakers from national governments, representatives from international organizations such as the United Nations and the World Bank, scientists specializing in climate science, glaciology, and biodiversity, indigenous community leaders who hold invaluable traditional knowledge, environmental activists, conservationists, educators, and representatives from non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and private sector entities with stakes in the Himalayan region's sustainability would all be welcomed to join the summit. By bringing together such a broad spectrum of stakeholders, the summit aims to foster inclusive dialogue, encourage collaboration, and generate innovative solutions to protect the Himalayas and mitigate the impacts of global environmental changes
