In the Himalayas, women’s legal empowerment highlights both a moral obligation and a pragmatic need for sustainable development in this ecologically vital region. This conference helps move forward interdisciplinary knowledge and action via authentic stakeholder conversations aimed at tangible results. The outcomes are transformative, advancing the well-being of entire communities and ecosystems in the region, if the conference develops contextually appropriate strategies addressing the distinctive Himalayan difficulties while honoring universal human rights frameworks.
To uphold women’s rights and empower them legally and socially, the Session focuses on the intersection of gender and ecology in the Himalayan region as a core instrument of legal innovation. This framework endorses the understanding of law as social change and change as law while sustainably reconceptualizing them through the lenses of legal pluralism, merging women’s informal and formal legal norms.
