As the Himalayan region faces intensifying environmental challenges, the role of emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence and Machine Vision is becoming increasingly crucial. This session explores how intelligent systems can be applied in real-time monitoring, early warning systems, and precision decision-making across mountainous terrain. From forest fire alerts to landslide detection and infrastructure resilience, AI offers scalable tools to address critical problems where human reach is limited. The session will highlight both technical advancements and ethical considerations involved in deploying AI in ecologically and culturally sensitive landscapes.

Objectives

  • To explore AI-based environmental monitoring systems for the Himalayan region
  • To understand the role of machine vision in disaster prediction (e.g., landslides, floods)
  • To demonstrate use cases of drones, IoT, and satellite imagery for regional planning
  • To identify challenges in data training, infrastructure, and ethical deployment
  • To promote responsible, community-sensitive AI deployment strategies

Who Should Attend

  • Researchers and data scientists working in AI/ML and computer vision
  • Environmental technologists and smart infrastructure planners
  • Geospatial analysts and disaster management professionals
  • Policymakers and climate resilience stakeholders
  • Students and innovators in engineering, data science, and sustainability
