In an age of escalating climate crises and ecological disruption, the emotional and psychological toll of environmental degradation—termed eco-anxiety—is emerging as a global concern. This session explores how media narratives, documentaries, journalism, and digital platforms shape public perception of pollution and ecological threats, particularly in sensitive regions like the Himalayas. It will examine how environmental storytelling not only reflects our anxieties but also inspires awareness, action, and resilience.

Objectives

  • To understand eco-anxiety as a psychological response to environmental issues.
  • To explore the role of traditional and digital media in shaping ecological awareness and public sentiment.
  • To engage with students, educators, and media creators on developing responsible and hopeful environmental communication strategies.

Who should attend

  • Environmentalists and conservation practitioners
  • Educators and students from communication, media, and environmental studies
  • Mental health professionals and social scientists
  • Journalists, filmmakers, and creative writer
  • Policy makers and civil society organizations
