The Himalayan ecosystem, with its fragile and diverse nature, supports over 51 million people engaged in hill agriculture and holds immense importance for India's ecological security. It plays a critical role in providing essential ecosystem services such as forest cover, water resources for drinking and irrigation, biodiversity conservation, fertile grounds for agriculture, and picturesque landscapes for tourism. However, this ecosystem is under threat from various factors including natural changes, climate change induced by human activities, and modern developmental paradigms. To address these challenges, our upcoming session will focus on key areas including leadership development initiatives to empower local communities, training programs for women to market locally grown products for empowerment, harnessing digital technologies for sustainability, skill development for self-help groups to promote sustainable livelihoods, and creating awareness among communities about the implications of ecological degradation to foster active participation in eco-development schemes. Join us in our mission to preserve and enhance the Himalayan ecosystem for a sustainable future.
